Position: Film and Digital Media Teaching Assistant/Demonstrator Institution: The School of Fine Art, History of Art, and Cultural Studies, The University of Leeds http://www.leeds.ac.uk/fine_art Location: Leeds, UK Date Posted: 23/09/05 Application: Ongoing Position: Film and Digital Media Teaching Assistant/Demonstrator: This person must possess excellent social skills and a sense of how to maintain a good working environment and appropriate work and social structures on a multi-user system. He or she will need to be aware that the teaching environment is one that is committed to the integration of theory and practice. Ideally this person should be fluent with the prevailing aesthetic and theoretical issues in practice-based work. Job Description: Teaching and Training Run short courses and workshops in basics of scanning, Photoshop, Final Cut Express for all years and occasionally for staff. The workshops on Final Cut run three-to-four weeks. Work on a one-to-one basis with students, and sometimes, staff, as practice-based questions arise. Support Provide teaching support to students working in the School's media suite on an individual and responsive basis at set periods. Provide technical and logistical help with setting up Degree shows for defined lead-in periods. Monitor technical operation of G18 suite and report any problems to head staff. Help with development of the resource by monitoring useage and advising on resource bids. Maintenance of media room (moving equipment, cabling, e.g.) Induction Run induction sessions for Year 1 in OSX, basics of equipment use and general studio protocols. Administer issuing of passwords and user names for new and returning students. Prepare documentation and related manuals. The position requires liaising with various academic and technical staff.
