<nettime-ann> Anymedia documentary workshop IDFA

Title: Anymedia documentary workshop IDFA
Workshop Any Media Documentary {AT} IDFA

Makers of creative documentaries need to come to terms with an explosion of existing new media channels and practices, in terms of conceiving, producing as well as publishing documentary projects.
In this workshop we’ll look at the possibilities of new media from the point of view of a documentary author, and all participants develop a prototype of a many media documentary.
Starting from content ideas or from existing material, participants will develop a prototype documentary project that uses one or more new media.
Topics include: the mobile phone as production tool, the role(s) of the audience and Web 2.0 practices, interactive and databased stories, and the use of computer games for documentary purposes.
What media suit your content? What roles do you want your audience to have? What tools suit your concept? What new aesthetic questions do you need to answer?
The workshop kicks-off with an afternoon seminar on best practices in crossmedia documentary projects. In the five following days, makers will develop prototypes of their own crossmedia documentary projects, tutored by experienced coaches and international guestlecturers that present their projects and react to the participants proposals.
Results will be shown and discussed at 30 november in De Balie from 11.00 hrs till 12.30 hrs.
Next to the sly and easy-to-use Korsakow System, participants are introduced to a selection of current online tools to build their projects with.
All participants are helped realizing their workshop projects by savvy technical assistants. Participants need no specific technical knowledge in advance.
