Title: Scholarships for Interactive Sculpture Class
Two Merit Scholarships Available
Organic Motion: kinetic and interactive sculpture. Call for Applications: Two Merit Scholarships available for emerging or mid-career artists to take a two-week course with instructors Anat Pollack and Mark Koven, and guest artist Jim Campbell. This course will take place from July 30 - August 10. Deadline April 22.
These awards are designed to help artists interested in learning more about physical computing and its use in interactive sculpture. Scholarships include: Full tuition, lodging and meals for the duration of the course. Winning applicants must provide for their own travel and studio fees. To view more about this class and faculty please visit http://www.andersonranch.org/workshops/index.cfm?include=Digital%20Media&EventID=1372&DisplayContent=false
Concept: In this workshop we will work in both the sculpture and digital studios to explore interactive and kinetic sculptural art. Students will draw from the environment, combining organic and manmade materials with natural forces and physical computing, to create sculptures that move and interact with the viewer. This class will expand your conceptual and technical vocabulary as you learn how to think about and incorporate natural materials in your designs as well as sensors, motors, microcontrollers and other forms of input and output.
To apply: Send resume, examples of work, and a brief statement that answers the following questions: What is your current work about? Why do you want to take this course and how do you see it effecting your development as an artist? You may apply by mail or e-mail. Applications must be received by April 22.
