NAME Readymade
Janez Janša is the name of Slovenia’s economic-liberal, conservative prime minister – and has also been the name of three well-known Slovenian artists since the summer of 2007; officially and with all the papers and stamps required for an official name change. All of their works, their private affairs, in a word their whole life has been conducted under this name ever since.
One year later, they are now analysing the effects of this gesture in an exhibition for the first time. All of the exhibits are immediate products of reality: Janša, Janša and Janša turn the relationship of art and life on its head by means of transformation, translation, representation and mimesis. While above all art was redefined in the past century by the reality, Janša, Janša and Janša want to achieve the exact opposite by penetrating deep into their own real lives and into the life of their immediate environment.

The exhibition is accompanied by the book NAME Readymade (Moderna galerija, Ljubljana / Revolver) containing exhaustive studies and rich visual materials. This publication is a parcours through different stages and aspects of the act of name changing. It contains essays by experts in the field and documents and writings on different actions and projects by Janša, Janša and Janša.
Rich visual material makes this book an unique document of the work that has provoked wide range of interpretation in artistic as well as in general audience.
