14th Annual Webby Awards Now Open
What will be your 5-word speech?

The 14th Annual Webby Awards Call for Entries is officially open for the season. With business, consumer, and culture categories it's your opportunity to be recognized as the best of the Web.

Each year, Webby Winners deliver 5-word acceptance speeches at our annual gala, a tradition we're proud to carry on. Speeches range from the comedic to the irreverent, to the emotional; watch our latest video capturing some of the best from our June 2009 Gala.

You can only win by entering your work, so make sure you're on the list to be considered for a Webby, and for the chance to give your 5-word speech live on our Gala stage in June 2010.

The early entry deadline is October 30, 2009.
Enter now to take advantage of special early pricing.

New Webby Categories: Media and Green

We're very excited to introduce honors for media this year (Best Use of Online Media and Best Use of Social Media), to specifically recognize the media components behind interactive marketing campaigns, which continue to grow in many directions. We are thrilled to honor the innovators who bring brands to life with strategic, and creative media planning in the online space.

We are also excited about our new Green category, to recognize those sites dedicated to green technologies, innovations, tools and causes. Read the press release all about this year.

You can only win by entering your work!

The Creative Group's Career Tip

Don't Be a Cube Rube
Imagine your office space. Can you see for miles and miles - or at least to the water cooler? Open floor plans are becoming increasingly popular, so it's in your best interest to follow cubicle etiquette. While the rules may not be spelled out in the company's orientation book, there are important guidelines to follow if you want to get along with your neighbors at work. Here are a few:

  • Before stepping into a colleagues work space, knock gently on the side of the entrance. This allows the individual to signal whether he or she has time to chat.
  • Talk softly to avoid disturbing others, and don't use your speakerphone unless absolutely necessary.
  • Avoid lengthy, personal conversations when others are within earshot.
  • Wear headphones if you listen to music and set your cell phone on quiet mode, especially if you have a trendy ring tone that others may find annoying.
  • Keep your coworkers' olfactory sensibilities in mind. Avoid wearing too much cologne or eating pungent foods at your desk.
