.

As part of  Crosstalk Video Art Festival 2010 (www.crosstalk.hu) the monthly organised talk series Crosstalk Video Presentations start again.

Video and Media Artists from Hungary and from outside Hungary are invited to do a presentation and have a discussion with the audience.  The aim of the events is to introduce contemporary video artists (from and outside our country) and to make the audiences acquainted with video art as such and also to nurture this field of art.

One is going to meet a couple of new changes this year. There has been changes in the structure of the presentations and the venues are going to be different too. Video Presentations are moving from last year’s location the Labor (1053 Budapest, Képíró u. 6.) to the spacious rooms of Műcsarnok (1146 Dózsa György út 37.)

The invited artist of the next presentation: Pál Szacsva y

Partners in the discussion: András Halász, Miklós Erhardt

Date: Thursday the 15th October 2009 Time: 7pm

Pal Szacsvay graduated in 1993 at Ion Andreescu Art College at Kolozsvar in Romania. He specialised in Printmaking.  From 1993 until 1995 he was pursuing masters studies in Painting at the Hungarian University of Fine Arts.  In 1996 he completed a postgraduate video course at the École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts at Marseille.

Int he Academic Year 1999/2000 he was a postgraduate student at the Kunsthochschule in Berlin as he was awarded a DAAD Scholarship. He also did a postgraduate audio-visual course at the Higher Institute of Fine Arts in Antwerpen between 2001 and 2003 . In 2009 he was awarded doctoral degree in Intermedia Studies at the Hungarian University of Fine Arts. With his video piece (Pericycle) he won a prize at the Projections on Lake Competition which was organised as a public art competition in Pasadena (USA) in 2008.

From the mid 90’s his works are conceptual and combine different media. At the end of the 90’s his media narrows down to photography and video dealing with very fundamental questions of art like depiction, or the relation between representation and medium.  From the early 2000’s he has been making mainly videos and theoretically based works. (For Example: Empire Projekt, Ludwig Múzeum – Museum of Contemporary Art  2004.) Then he started experimenting with collaborative pieces (Artiste Trouvé Project, Ball Game, Joyful Friday, 2005). In 2007 he started a long term online project called Perimedia Lab which consists of 3 main parts so far : Peripublic (2007) Perichronic (2008) and  The news in my home, my home in the news (http://www.perimedialab.hu).

Venue:  Kunsthalle (Műcsarnok) (1146 Dózsa György út 37.)
