Tell the East Germans who led the uprising of 1953 that the Stalinist 
system was "absurd" and "fell at the first blows of the crowd". Far 
from being "weak," it held on for 36 more years.

That those who do not remember history are condemned to repeat it 
would not bother me so much if the rest of us were not compelled to 
repeat it with them.
