An interesting quote and typical of Russell's later position. But let's
not forget that just a few years earlier Bertie had been one of von
Neumann's most ardent supporters in the campaign to convince US president
Truman to "bomb the Soviet Union back to the stone age" before they could
develop their own nuclear arsenal.

When the Soviets did develop their own nuclear weapons he did a quick
about turn and was one of the founders of the influential Campaign for
Nuclear Disarmament or CND.
