<nettime> BBC Panorama provides further evidence of government death squads in northern Ireland |
The BBC Panorama program (part1 shown last night part2 Sunday 22.15 bst) provided more compelling evidence that government death squads were operating in Northern Ireland during the 1980s. The program focused in on the murder of Belfast Solicitor Pat Finucane and the role that Military Intelligence and RUC special branch had in assisting and even directing known terrorists in his assassination. The Finucane family have once again called for an independent judicial inquiry into his killing and Tony Blair has pledged that ' he is determined to get to the bottom of the allegations of collusion raised in last night's BBC Panorama programme' . It seems that the British dirty war has come home to roost, I wonder will Tony Blair's war on terrorism extend to his own intelligence services?
