But there is also a lack of knowledge of the salespeople. I once visited a
shop, the i-mode was online with the usual portal. I typed in
212.202.128.197 et voila, not very usefull for browsing, but no problem.

This is true in my experience, going back and forth instantly between
small town in czech republic and fido (canada) while roaming within the
province.
