You've come to the right place: Brainstorms are Us.

I'm sorry; I don't know what this means. The actual developments?

Interesting innovation: a phone that would visually display the contents of
the number-based menu structure being dictated to you so you could find
your way around. Phone's are extremely p2p, after all.

Play professionally for a couple years.

Going for coffee.

I don't know what this means. Can millions of people stop buying CD's from
major labels and their subsidiaries? That might get their attention.

As a software developer, no. Never.

They've only just started.

Be brave!

The students are the one's paying; they are the customer. They should
exercise their rights.

Selling Crack Cocaine.

Well, now that you asked, I did wonder how many Howard Dean meetups were
happening (on Jan 7) _outside_ the United States (I know there's one here
in Winnipeg) .....

development stable as ever. RIAA / MPAA / "german what's it called" -
AH! "ZKM"! threats none but hypocritical "don't touch OUR products! all
others is fine, ain't our jurisdiction!" gibberish.

>

what I found fascinating a couple of weeks back is the way p2p works in
Japan. semi-anonymous p2p clients with many users. hard to find nfo tho,
prog called "WINNY", more stuff further down {AT} anonymity question..

>
> - - Strategies against the music industry

share, share, share. oh yeah, keep on sharing... and do yourself a
favor, don't buy their rotten products.
support small labels with your $$. there's many out there. the world
isn't as mainstream as corporate media wants you to believe.
the current strategy seems to be working, or would they panic that much
otherwise?

> - - p2p as social and democratic phenomenon ?

well i've always had the impression that p2p file sharing empowers
certain user groups which don't have the financial assets to participate
in the global process of media consumption, education etc.

i.e. high end software packages circulate on p2p big time, giving users
the possibility to get educated and use their newly acquired skills on
the job market.

i.e. access to the arts; p2p file sharing isn't only about grabbing the
latest LOTR movie/terminator 3.. it's also about staying in touch with
non-mainstream cinema beyond the standardized channels of distribution
(licensed DVDs, cinema licensing etc.).

mainstream media hasn't yet fully grasped the more intricate
implications of filesharing; by overinflating the same old "pirates
pirate [insert blockbuster movie title here]" headline over and over
again, a protective shield is deployed in front of people who don't
pirate [insert blockbuster movie title here] but stick to material which
nobody outside of a certain group of enthusiasts gives a damn about.

the whole process of prosecution as being put forward by the MPAA/RIAA
and their fellow acronyms around the globe revolves around the principle
"protect your own products, protect your own money". it is outright
ridiculous for them to stylize themselves as a moral instance- "file
sharing is bad". yeah right. take a look in the mirror befor jumping to
those heroic conclusions.

> - - Is lobbying against the music industry possible ?

isn't the act of filesharing itself the greatest combined voice- the
lobby of the consumer?

> - - Do you think it possible to organize users ?

check out the p2p msg boards and you'll see that these people are
already highly organized around shared ideals; they are as organized as
they can only be, i believe.

> - - Now that they crushed centralized structures, do you think the music industry has lost?

uhm which structures do you believe have been crushed? I don't get this
point..

> - - How to protect the new decentralized p2p nets (zB Encryption,Anonymizer-Blackboxes?! ...)

at the time being, the discussion "anonymity vs usability" is raging all
across the globe. some time back, WinNY, some semi-anonymous japanese
p2p app, was busted. check slashdot for "WINNY"..
in a nutshell (imho..), it appears to be common wisdom that completely
anonymous p2p is impossible to implement and use. take i.e. freenet-- in
geek tech discussion (check slashdot..), people aren't even sure whether
freenet is impenetrable; in fact, the aforementioned app WinNY is based
on that.

think "weakest part of a chain"-- as soon as you're inside of the
network and participating, there's always a way to ultimately determine
where a packet came from. the differences lie in the diffculty of
finding out, and subsequently the amount of funds and work needed to
trace somebody (neatly corresponds to my paragraph about "the morals of
RIAA etc.....)

> - - Will Universities back their students or not...

in the US, they don't seem to. university of florida issue springs to my
mind:

mantra start: give consumers what they want.

problem: finding out what we want is their damn job.

conclusion: unable to figure out what we want, the Industry tells us
what THEY want. hey wait a second, did anyone invert the economic cycle
there..

seriously, this is a very tough question.
