well, it will be an uphill battle to stop this -- look at the 
enormous subsidies that national/city operas and symphonies get from 
taxation.  This is the case across the developed world with tiny (but 
wealthy and demanding) constituencies -- old media would seem to win 
(easily) in those cases!
