LOVE, PIRACY AND THE OFFICE OF RELIGIOUS WEBLOG EXPANSION

Launch event for the book AMBIENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS; takes place alongside
screenings of film works (see below).

Each copy of the book will be subjected to a rigorous process of censorship
before it is allowed into circulation. Fume in liberal indignation as a
thrilling text is obfuscated... Recompose yourself as you discover an abundance
of theoretical musings and examples of practice... Be tantalized by the prospect
of defeating the censors through collective action!

AMBIENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS elucidates the work of Manu Luksch, Mukul Patel and
collaborators as part of the wave of critical art that has emerged alongside
the rise of digital networks. Interrogating the social and political
transformations of the late 20th/early 21st centuries, their practice bridges
art and activism, and recalls aspects of the 1910s-20s avant-garde and
1960s-70s conceptual and systems art.
Contributors include: Fahim Amir, Siraj Izhar, Naseem Khan, Armin Medosch, Keiko
Sei, Shane Solanki.
400pp, 6 colour hardbound
Supported by Arts Council England
With thanks to Ali Alizadeh and Elke Michlmayr (Launch event)

THE ORDER (Manu Luksch, UK 2001/2009) - World Premiere
and other film works

THE ORDER is an intimate study of UK riot police.

Since 2008, Section 76 of the UK Counter Terrorism Act makes it an offence to
"elicit, publish or communicate information" relating to members of the Armed
Forces, intelligence services and police that is "likely to be useful to a
person committing or preparing an act of terrorism". Photojournalists argue
that this potentially criminalizes any photography of the security agencies.

The film programme also includes VIRTUAL BORDERS (2004, with French subtitles),
AJU J.'S NEW YEAR FEAST (2005), MAPPING CCTV IN WHITEHALL (2008), and SO ODER
ANDERS (1996).
