Re: <nettime> Barcelona: nationalism, municipalism? |
hey,
this is not exactly an 'answer'; but I think it might be helpful for mapping the territory around this particular question a bit. it´s two articles from Raul Zelik, who has will soon also publish a book around the complex territory of current day political 'history' in Spain ('Spanien – eine politische Geschichte der Gegenwart' / 'Spain – a contemporary political history'). I think he is one of the most apt political analysts on the spanish speaking world publishing in german. – sorry I can´t translate or recap this for the list; but currently I am in some very special circumstances. but maybe if someone finds this valuable, she/he can recap this in english for the broader nettime public. http://www.raulzelik.net/baskenland-texte/499-demokratie-statt-nationalismus-zum-referendum-in-katalonien-freitag-30-9-2017 ['Democracy, not nationalism. On the referendum in Catalonia'] http://www.raulzelik.net/baskenland-texte/500-das-ist-eine-soziale-revolution-reportage-woz-28-9-2017 ['This is a social revolution'] best, oliver Felix Stalder schrieb: Like many, I watched incredulously as Spanish police beat up Catalan voters yesterday and I kept wondering what this rising tension does to the project of rebel municipalism. Is it being squeezed between the nationalisms? Or can thrive within it? What's happening.
