The relevant repeating pattern is eliminating the local social network with its filtering and inertia, and substituting it with a faraway CCC, which can move at any speed it chooses.

This is exactly what is going on today with Twitter, for example, which bypasses everything (except Twitter's political commissariat), so POTUS can have a direct line to its subjects.

This elimination of local barriers was cheered more by left than by right, and it could point to a fundamental difference between them.
