Op de rode deur rechts naast de ingang van restaurant In de Waag is een videopaneel gemonteerd. Je kunt hier je camera of laptop inpluggen en direct streamen op plugin.waag.org

De Canadese kunstenaars Michelle Teran en Jeff Mann bouwen in hun Life Form lab wonderlijke objecten. Alledaagse voorwerpen als een keukenstoel, een klok of een knuffelbeest worden technologisch gemanipuleerd opdat ze kunnen zingen, praten en bewegen. Gedurende de zomermaanden bevindt het LifeForm:Telekinetics Lab zich in de Melkweg. In installaties en performances zullen hybride ruimtes worden gecreerd: gedeeltelijk fysiek, gedeeltelijk virtueel. Het project maakt deel uit van het Connected! Programma waarin onderzoek wordt gedaan naar de nieuwe vormen van genetwerkte media en performancekunst.

CREATIVE LEARNING / ZOMERFESTIVAL IMAGINE IC

Jonge inwoners van Amsterdam Zuidoost zijn uitgenodigd voor diverse workshops in het Zomerfestival van Imagine IC. Bij 'Digitaal Verhaal' leren ze een script te maken en dat te verfilmen. In de ScratchWorx workshop maken ze in vier sessies kennis met alle facetten van een DJ/VJ-productie. Het resultaat tonen de deelnemers in een live show aan de Scratch-console. De workshops worden verzorgd door Waag Society in samenwerking met de Educatieve Faculteit Amsterdam.

Sensing Presence / ZOMERSCHOOL CONNECTED: LIVE ART EXCHANGE

Programmeurs, theatermakers, media-studenten en kunstenaars kunnen in een driedaagse workshop praktijkervaring opdoen met het gebruik van streamingtechnieken voor genetwerkte performances. De laatste dag van de workshop worden bezoeken afgelegd bij twee kunstenaarsprojecten: Jeff Mann en Michelle Teran demonstreren prototypes in hun Telekinetics Lab. Alledaagse voorwerpen worden door hen omgetoverd tot telekinetisch speelgoed. Beth Coleman en Howard Goldkrand presenteren hun geluidsinstallatie op de Nieuwmarkt in Amsterdam. De dag wordt afgesloten met een publieke lezing over 'location-based alternative gaming, emergence and the arts'. Sprekers zijn Celia Pearce (Games Culture and Technology Lab, University of California) en Matt Adams (Blast Theory).
De zomerschool workshop wordt georganiseerd in samenwerking met de Amsterdam New Media Initiative in het kader van het Connected! Programma.

Public Research / WORKSHOP CREATIVE COMMONS EN AUTEURSRECHT

Een 1-daagse workshop over het gebruik van Creative Commons-licenties voor contentproducenten. De workshop is geschikt voor mensen die eigen content onder een CC-licentie ter beschikking willen stellen of die gebruik willen maken van content die een CC-licentie heeft.De workshop wordt georganiseerd door Waag Society en Nederland Kennisland, die onlangs in het kader van DISC (Domein voor Innovatieve Software en Content) samen met het Instituut voor Informatierecht de vertaling van de Amerikaanse CC-licenties naar het Nederlands recht initieerden.

The Canadian artists Michelle Teran and Jeff Mann construct weird and wonderful objects in their Life Form Lab. Everyday items such as a kitchen chair, a clock or a cuddly toy are manipulated technologically so that they can sing, talk and move. The Life Form Telekinetics Lab will be held at the Melkweg during the summer months. Hybrid spaces will be created in installations and performances that are partly physical and partly virtual. This project has been included in the Connected! Program that involves researching new forms of networked media and performance art.

CREATIVE LEARNING / THE IMAGINE IC SUMMER FESTIVAL

The young residents of Amsterdam South-East are invited to participate in various workshops during Imagine ICs Summer Festival. They will learn how to write and film a script at the Digital Story workshop while the four sessions of the ScratchWorx workshop will introduce them to all the aspects of a DJ/VJ production. Participants will then demonstrate the work that they create in a live show on the Scratch console. These workshops are organised by Waag Society in co-operation with the Amsterdam Faculty of Education. 

Sensing Presence / THE CONNECTED SUMMER SCHOOL: LIVE ART EXCHANGE

In a three-day workshop, programmers, theatre makers, media students and artists can gain practical experience in the use of streaming techniques for networked performances. The workshops final day will consist of visits to two artists projects: Jeff Mann and Michelle Teran will demonstrate prototypes at their Telekinetics Lab where everyday objects are transformed into telekinetic toys, and Beth Coleman and Howard Goldkrand will present their sound installation on Amsterdams Nieuwmarkt. The day will be concluded with a public lecture on 'location-based alternative gaming, emergence and the arts'. The speakers will be Michelle Teran and Jeff Mann (Live Form) and Matt Adams (Blast Theory).
This summer school workshop is organised in co-operation with the Amsterdam New Media Initiative as a part of the Connected! Program.

Public Research / THE CREATIVE COMMONS AND COPYRIGHT WORKSHOP

This one-day workshop consists of the use of Creative Commons licenses for content producers. It is intended for people who either wish to make their own content available under a CC license or would like to utilise content that has already been licensed. This workshop is being organised by Waag Society and Nederland Kennisland. In co-operation with the Institute for Information Law, Nederland Kennisland recently undertook the translation of the American CC licenses as based on Dutch legislation as a part of DISC (Domain for Innovative Software and Content).
