[Nettime-ro] Call for entries: The 26th Montpellier Festival


         Call for entries 
       

  The 26th Montpellier Festival is being prepared. Make a note of the dates: 22-31 October 2004. 

  On line registration of films to be selected for the different competition sections is available since 2 February 2004 on our site www.cinemed.tm.fr. 

  May participate films completed since January 1, 2003. The subject and handling of the films must contribute to the cinematic representation of the Mediterranean and the director must be from one of the states in the Mediterranean Basin, the Black Sea states, Portugal or Armenia. 

  Deadline for registration: 
  - Fiction features: 31 August 2004 
  - Fiction shorts: 16 July 2004 
  - Documentaries: 16 July 2004 
  - Experimental : 16 July 2004 
  - Development Grant: 16 July 2004

       More than 65,000 Euro of prizes and aids 
       

  Once again this year more than 40,000 Euro in cash well be awarded to the winners, in addition to prizes consisting in different services and aids worth 25,000 Euro offered by sponsors. 

  A list of the awards in the various competitions will be available in September 2004. Reminder of the 2003 awards, for information: 

  Features: 
  - Golden Antigone (City and District of Montpellier) 
  (15,000 Euro awarded by the City and the District of Montpellier) 
  (15,000 Euro in advertising awarded by Ciné Cinémas for the release of the film) 
  - Critics' Award (Caisse d'Epargne Languedoc-Roussillon) 
  (2,000 Euro awarded to the director) 
  - Filmgoers' Award (Midi Libre) 
  (4,000 Euro awarded to the director by Midi Libre) 
  - Nova Award 
  (Advertising awarded for the release of the film) 
  - Technical Support Award (GTC) 
  (4,500 Euro in technical services awarded to the director by GTC) 
  - Distribution Aid Award (Titra Film) 
  (2,300 Euro in technical services awarded to the distributor by Titra Film) 
  - Students' Award (CROUS) 
  (1,500 Euro awarded to the director by the CROUS) 
  - Young People's Award (CMCAS) 
  (1,000 Euro awarded to the director by CMCAS) 

  Short films: 
  - Grand Prix for Short Films (City and District of Montpellier) 
  (4,000 Euro awarded to the director by the City and the District of Montpellier) 
  - Filmgoers' Award (GTC - Kodak - Titra Film) 
  (1,500 Euro in laboratory services, ten 122-m reels of film negative and 1,200 Euro in subtitling services) 
  - Cine Cinecourts Award (Cine Cinemas) 
  (Prize: film purchased for broadcasting in the programme 'Cine Cinecourts') 
  (2,000 Euro awarded to the director by FASILD) 

  Documentaries: 
  - Ulysses Award 
  (2,000 Euro awarded to the director and 1,000 Euro to the producer by the Médiatheque centrale d'Agglomération Emile-Zola Médiatheque Fellini de Montpellier) 

  Experimental: 
  "Off" Award (awarded by the students of the Montpellier School of Arts). No grant. 
  - Art schools videos section 
  - Recent productions section 

  Development Grant: 
  - One 7,000 Euro grant (funded by the CNC, European and International Affairs authority) 
  - One 3,500 Euro grant (funded by the company Big Sky) 
  - Writing in residence (offered by CECI le Moulin d'Andé) 
  - Production and distribution support (offered by Memento Film)
