[Nettime-ro] call for entries media art festival friesland

The eighth edition takes place from 18th September until October 2nd, 2004.

We invite you to submit your experimental films, videos, CD-ROM and Internet projects before May 30th, 2004.

Media Art Festival Friesland, an international platform for innovative multi-media and film in arts, will present a program in the area of tensions between visions, stories and crossovers. Held in the Province of Friesland in the Netherlands, the main locations of the festival are Leeuwarden and Drachten.



VideoSalon

The current international video and film program presents a high-quality selection of recent experimental short films and videos, animations and

new forms of narration.

Exhibition

Exhibitions present works of multimedia installations by graduation students of Dutch Academies of Art, Media Technology and Design. The Computer Gallery presents international non-linear works on CD-Rom and net works.

SoundVision

The image and sound program filled with multimedia stage shows, Veejaying, as well as other live acts that have become part of media art.

Student Forum

A special program offered by the Student Forum, in co-operation with Dutch Media Colleges, present training concepts as well as student projects.

Student Competition

The International Student Competition tries to stimulate graduation students to achieve their innovative, creative potentials. An independent jury of experts will award one prize of 500 euro. The prize given is based on a work that captivates through its content and the conscious use of its artistic means. 

rules

1. A maximum of three pieces of work per author can be entered as VHS (not SECAM) or DVD with the production year of 2002, 2003 or 2004.

2. The costs of postage and return postage for material are at the expense of the sender.

3. Material posted from abroad the EU must be marked with the comment: "For temporary, cultural purposes only - No commercial value."

4. Preview material will remain in the archive if no return postage to the value of 10 euro (for EU countries) or $ 15 US (non EU countries) has been send with the application.

5. All applications have to reach St. Jacobiparochie before the deadline.

6. The application implies the acceptance of the regulations of the Media Art Festival Friesland. 

7. Each work must reflect both a sense of personal enquiry and a high level of experimentation with the medium. The programming committee's decision is final.
