[Nettime-ro] Un animal politic/A Political Animal, Paraschiv&Gaspar, MNTR, joi 26 aprilie, h.19.30 |
Olivia NiÈiÈ Vernisaj: Joi, 26 aprilie 2012, orele 19.30 Locatie: BucureÈti, Muzeul NaÈional al TÄranului RomÃn, sala "Acvariu" Perioada: 26 aprilie - 14 mai 2012 A political animal - Christian Paraschiv & Cristi Gaspar The exhibition at the National Romanian Peasant Museum brings together works by Christian Paraschiv and Cristian GaÈpar taking on the appeal to political consciousness, asking questions about past and present, about communism and capitalism, about cowardice and courage, about "resistance through culture" and resistance by "gut", about who we were and who we are. Christian Paraschiv, an important name in contemporary art, banned in Romania since 1982 and exiled in Paris since 1986, is among the few Romanian artists who recognize their political commitment in their art discourse, through the repetition of communist symbols associated with real elements that defined the social, cultural and religious limits of the society before 1990. Cristian GaÈpar's work complements the overall pattern of the past / present confrontation without hiding any conflictual reality, but rather a natural continuation of a society which did not undergo an essential transformation in the absence of a serious analysis over its fate so far.
