Media Studies Subject Group

Lecturer in Media Practice/Digital Media (two posts)

Salary in the range: £20,470 to £24,435 per annum or £25,455 to £32,537 per annum.

The University is seeking to make two new faculty appointments to expand its successful Media Studies group.  You will teach on our new BA in Media Practice and Theory and, depending on your interests, on the BA in Media Studies.  You may also contribute to the MA in Digital Media and to research supervision.  The posts are available full-time, but applicants for half-time appointments will also be considered.  You will have both practical and academic expertise in the general area of new media. We particularly welcome applications in the following areas of expertise: digital imaging and web production, the political economy of the new media, the new media and interactivity.  Candidates should have a higher degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience and demonstrable teaching experience.  You will be expected to contribute to our RAE profile by way of publication and/or practice-based output and an existing track record of such output is required for an appointment in the higher salary range.


Studentship on the MA in Digital Media (two posts)

The University is offering two studentships on the MA in Digital Media for 2002-03 - this MA combines theory with practice and explores the social form, cultural practice and political economy of new media.  Successful applicants for the studentships will have demonstrable skills in one or more of the following: Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Flash, digital video.  Under the terms of the studentship, they will act as part-time demonstrators on undergraduate media programmes in exchange for a fee waiver and small grant.
