Title: WRO 99 / FORUM Hi everybody, Just a short info on British event 'FROM TAPE TO VIRTUAL INSTALLATION' at WRO 99 International Media Art Biennale, Wroclaw, Poland. best, joanna krysa _______________________________________________________  THE POWER OF TAPE International Media Art Biennale 28 April - 2 May 1999,  Wroclaw, Poland ___________________________________ FROM TAPE TO VIRTUAL INSTALLATION A NIGHT OF EVENTS  /  30 April /  9.30pm ARTISTS PRESENTATIONS / DISCUSSIONS / LIVE INTERNET LINK-UP WROCLAW - LONDON curators Joanna Krysa & Lina Dzuverovic - Russell ___________________________ FROM TAPE TO VIRTUAL INSTALLATION is an artists¹ presentation and a forum exploring the status of tape in relation to the rapid developments in digital media in the U.K. Through a programme of artists presentations and critical talks it is an opportunity to experience a selection of the best new media works by contemporary British artists. Incorporating a live Internet link-up, CD ROM presentations, websites, audio installations and video works  the forum provides an overview of the way in which the latest digital technologies are affecting artistic production. Engaging diverse artistic perspectives the event becomes a platform for a critical discussion and highlights the most significant developments in art practice involving tape both as a medium and a subject itself.  Lina Dzuverovic - Russell gives an overview of contemporary British new media art scene, while Tina Keane, William Furlong, Gudrun Bielz and Gina Czarnecki examine the emerging visual language created by convergence of media. FROM TAPE TO VIRTUAL INSTALLATION also features COUCH,  an extended cinema event, bringing the street and the gallery into the virtual space through the use of projection. The COUCH is a work by Tina Keane in collaboration with Tyrone Messiah, Giovanni D¹Angelo and Andrea Zimmermann featuring Dr. Rachel Armstrong as a chat show host and ...... a special guest. FROM TAPE TO VIRTUAL INSTALLATION is supported by The British Council, Wimbledon School of Art and St Martins College of Art and Design.
