Japan tel:+81-95-820-1948 fax:+81-95-826-7047 e-mail: pref@nagasaki-noc.ne.jp Implementation Guidelines for International Multimedia Contest '99 The Steering Committee for International Information and Communications Fair May 1999 Implementation Guidelines for International Multimedia Contest '99 Objectives of the contest: The main objectives of this International Multimedia Contest are to find potential multimedia artists and foster them by providing an opportunity to showcase their abilities and communicate with other talented entrants. We also hope to contribute to educating young people through the contest. This contest is part of series of the festivities for the commemoration of the 400th Anniversary of relations between Japan and the Netherlands, which is being held from the year 1999 throughout 2000. Multimedia Artwork: Multimedia artwork is defined as: 1 Any form of artwork made on a computer.( Windows or Mac) 2 Video-art (analogue and/or digital) Requirement: To enter the contest, you must be a Dutch national or a person who lives in Nagasaki Prefecture. Categories of entry: ・瘢雹Student A (Primary School Children) ・瘢雹Student B (Lower Secondary and Secondary School Students) ・瘢雹General (University Students and the General Public including professional enterprises) Theme of the Multimedia Artwork: The theme of this year's contest is "Peace and Friendship", but you are also free to choose an original theme. Note for teachers: The originality of the student's work is of utmost importance. However multimedia artwork whose content includes destruction, killing, violence, discrimination etc?. is considered unsuitable for entry, and we encourage you to advise and guide your students. Submission of an entry form: An entry form must be submitted between July 1, 1999 and August 20, 1999. Judges: Mr. Alain Escalle, Grand prize winner of MITI (Ministry of International Trade and Industry in Japan) and Multimedia Contents Promotion Association Grand Prize Contest: awarded MITI Minister's Prize, which was presented to the most excellent work in the grand prize contest. Representatives from local municipalities Representatives from Japanese TV stations Others Prize: Grand prize (1) First prize of each category (3) Special prize from judges (6) Consolation prize and many other prizes Announcement of results: The results will be announced on September 5, 1999 at the Nagasaki Brick Hall. Only successful contestants will be contacted by mail. (The first elimination results will be announced on August 27, 1999. The final results will be announced on September 5, 1999.) The works of prizewinners will be displayed at the Nagasaki Brick Hall between September 3 and September 5,1999. Application terms: Your multimedia artwork should be unpublished work. If you have a sponsor for your work, you should obtain permission for your entry. Your multimedia artwork must not infringe copyright laws. You can entry individually or in a group. Multiple entries are acceptable. But you may not receive more than one prize. Basically, your multimedia artwork will not be returned. However if you would like us to return your work, please mention it when you send an entry form. The sponsor of this contest reserves the right to put your multimedia artwork on the International Information and Communications Fair Homepage without a royalty. Copyright: If you use copyrighted artwork (e.g. pictures, photographs, animation characters, music etc), you must obtain permission for using their work in your multimedia creation. How to enter: Your multimedia artwork must be saved on: ・瘢雹3.5" 2HD floppy disc or 3.5"MO disc (If image photo is used, hard-copied disc is needed) The volume of a data should not exceed 128MB. ( multiple discs are acceptable) Contents of the disc ・瘢雹for 3.5" 2HD floppy discs; If the volume of data exceed one floppy disc, you can use several discs, and send them together. Please do not file more than one multimedia artwork on the same floppy disc. for MO discs; You may file more than one multimedia artworks on the same disc, but you need to make directories and copies of each work (One multimedia artwork-one directory). Please specify the directory name of your multimedia artwork. Disc labelling Put disc label on each multimedia artwork; including your name and the title of the multimedia artwork. Note: If you use multiple discs, please clearly mark the order of the discs No1, No2,…・瘢雹or Vol.1, Vol.2 etc. Form of multimedia artwork The form of your multimedia artwork should be in ".gif ". If you would like to use another form, please ask our office beforehand.
