Re: Syndicate: Reader October 1999

Dear Inke, dear syndicalists

a quick gut reaction - I fully agree with Lisa (as usual!) - that the
silence over the past six months has been just/ at least as important as the
texts... Personally, I've felt that it's weighed heavily and meaningfully in
our communication as a group; a strange solidarity with mute friends, with
numb/ dumb readers. Blank white pages, blank black pages, how to convey
this? Sang d'encre... - literally blood of ink. Without getting into razzle
dazzle aesthetics, wondering whether some kind of (sobre) musical notation
mightn't be useful. Staves ponderated with pauses, rests, held notes are
potent graphics. No syndicate symphony bullshit. Perhaps just some
occasional, discreet use of musical icons, which after all are an age-old
way of "marking time" on paper...

love to all
SJN

PS - For what it's worth, I like the "post haste" feel of email format and
also like the POD, print-on-demand suggestion, if you can pull that together
Walter
