<nettime-ann> xxxxx workshop_5_6 Berlin: noise_produce and SuperCollider

.

xxxxx workshop_5_6 Berlin

A (more-or-less) weekly series of constructivist workshops emphasising
making and connection within the field of the existent.

3rd March: noise_produce part two - Circuit board etching with
crackle/kraakdoos and/or Schmitt triggers. Details see below.

10th March: SuperCollider with Fredrik Olofsson: Writing algorithms
that sound. Details see below.

March projected: GNU Emacs, noise_produce part three

Please RSVP m@1010.co.uk with interest as places are limited.

...or contact if you're interested in leading a related workshop.

3rd March 2pm. noise_produce part two. with Martin Howse.

Crack and etch/tech. Circuit diagram to active circuit transform.

The second partition of the noise_produce workshop is concerned with
techniques for the elaboration of experimental noise electronics
(mis-use of functional digital electronics) and a generic means of
production traced from defined circuit diagram to copper-etched
board. Participants can choose to design their own digital/analogue
noise design or produce a Netherlandish cracklebox/kraakdoos:

Please bring a soldering iron and any spare/salvaged electronic parts
of interest. All other materials, including copper boards, will be
supplied.

Course fee (inc. materials 15 Euros)

Please RSVP m@1010.co.uk to reserve places as these are limited.

10th March 2pm. SuperCollider - writing algorithms that sound. with
Fredrik Olofsson.

SuperCollider is a free software, object oriented, real-time audio
synthesis programming language that runs efficiently across multiple
platforms. This means that it is one killer app and among one of the
hottest things you can have installed on your computer. In this
workshop I will do my best to share my enthusiasm for this live coding
environment. We will get creative with algorithms and sound in a very
hands-on manner. The workshop is suitable for beginners as well as
more experienced programmers.

--What to bring:

1) Laptop running Linux, OS X or Windows

2) SuperCollider installed:

LINUX: http://swiki.hfbk-hamburg.de/MusicTechnology/478
OS X: https://sourceforge.net/projects/blackrain-sc3/
WIN: http://sonenvir.at/downloads/sc3/sc3-win/

3) Some sort of speakers (quality a non-issue - internal laptop
speakers are fine)

4) 10 Euros participation fee

--About the Teacher:

Fredrik Olofsson, aka. redFrik, is a fanatic livecoder and developer
who also performs tricks with visuals and electronics.

Background:

A weekly series of constructivist workshops emphasising making and
connection within the field of the existent.

Workshops led by field-expert practitioners extend over realms of code
and embedded code, environmental code, noise, transmission and
reception, and electromysticism. Workshops solely utilise free
software and GNU toolbase.

Practitioners include Julian Oliver (http://selectparks.net/), Derek
Holzer (http://soundtransit.nl), Jeff Mann (http://jeffmann.com),
Martin Howse (http://1010.co.uk), Fredrik Olofsson
(http://www.fredrikolofsson.com/), superfactory (http://superfactory.biz)

Further planned workshops will cover Pd connectivity and hardware, the
Arduino platform, ATmega8 microcontrollers, UNIX process, free
software documentation, VLF reception, radio antenna design, analogue
TV transmission, FPGA design... full details tbc.

Please RSVP m@1010.co.uk to reserve any places or register
interest. Please forward.
