Film Exhibition Alexander Kluge: the fifth act

Film exhibition about the German director and writer Alexander Kluge

The Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil, Cosac Naify and the Goethe-Institut
São Paulo present for the first time in Brazil an exhibition of the films
and TV shows by Alexander Kluge, organized by the Centro Cultural Banco do
Brasil in São Paulo in cooperation with the Goethe-Institut. The
exhibition is curated by Jane de Almeida, Lecturer, Dept. of Visual Arts
at UCSD and Professor of film studies at Mackenzie University, Brazil.

Alexander Kluge is one of the most influential film personalities in the
history of film in Germany. He has been considered a bridge between
contemporary art and film and his movies are being shown in galleries and
art exhibitions around the world. This exhibition will present all of his
movies for the first time in Brazil and part of his TV shows (10 vor 11,
Prime Time e News & Stories), some with interviews with Jean-Luc Godard,
Susan Sontag and Daniel Libeskind.

During the opening the documentary "Alexander Kluge: the fifth act. A
conversation with Bruno Fischli", filmed in the Venice Film Festival 2007
especially for this exhibition will be for the first time projected
followed by a lecture about the Images of Alexander Kluge.

It will also be released the book "Alexander Kluge: o quinto ato" (Cosac
Naify) with eleven "Histories of Cinema" by Kluge from his new book Geschichten vom Kino and articles from Rainer
Stollmann, Jane de Almeida (editor), Miriam Hansen and Arlindo Machado.
