The Hogeschool van Amsterdam, University of Applied Sciences, is looking for a

Researcher Alternative Revenue Models (1,0 fte)

(Occupation by two persons in part time is possible.)

The position

The function is vacant in the program ‘Alternative Revenue Models’, that has as a goal to carry out research on alternatives, possibilities, opportunities and pitfalls within the network economy, with a national as well as an international perspective.

The program has three main focuses of the research:

1. Mobile money,
2. Crowdfunding and
3. Bitcoin and other internet currencies.

The researcher will perform research in these areas, and will map the creative industries in this domain, with the aim of realizing a conference, a publication, and teaching material.

The project runs in close cooperation with other universities of applied sciences (AHK, InHolland), universities (UvA, University of Warwick, Leuphana Universität etc.) and NGOs and companies (IICD, Finance Lab, Amsterdam Economic Board, MPTI, etc.).

Criteria

The researcher has a masters degree (minimum). He/she is aware of the developments in the field, especially of the new media and network  cultures. The researcher has an affinity with the subject of alternative revenue models and the creative industries. He/she has excellent skills in written and spoken English.

The researcher is flexible, pro-active, enthusiastic, investigative and enterprising, can deal with a complex educational environment and can cooperate with different partners such as companies and institutions.

He/she has a proven track record as researcher and has possibly written one or more scientific publications.

The department

Within the education program Interactive Media the lectorate Interactive Media in the Public Domain started in January 2004. This lectorate is  transformed into the Institute of Network Cultures (INC) and meanwhile is part of the Centre of Expertise CREATE-IT. The work of the lectorate includes research, the organization of theoretical education and the development and performance of a program of seminars, conferences, events and publications for the purpose of knowledge development and knowledge transfer. The lectorate consists of a team of four people, including Geert Lovink, who together coordinate the applied research in the field of network cultures.

CREATE-IT applied research is the centre of expertise of the School of Design and Communication of the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences. At this centre teachers, students and researchers perform applied research by order of the creative and computer industries. We cooperate with universities and other expertise centres. The research results are transferred to the benefit of the professional and educational field. Applied research gives an answer to urgent questions in practice, keeps education up to date, stimulates dissemination of knowledge and adds to the professionalisation of students and teachers.

What we offer

The tasks are part of the job description of researcher 4. The pay scale complies with pay scale 10 (CAO-HBO – labour agreement for higher  professional education). The maximum wage is EUR 3740,- per month for full-time employment. Salary depends on education and experience. This is an initial appointment for one year. An extension will be considered subject to satisfactory performance. The position can be occupied by two people in part time. The HvA has a comprehensive package of secondary benefits.
