Blues move to keep TurgeonAssociated Press | ||||
ST. LOUIS -- The uncertainty over St. Louis Blues center
Pierre Turgeon's future appears to be over.
The team has informed Turgeon that the Blues would give the restricted free agent a qualifying offer to retain his rights. Turgeon, 29, would have been an unrestricted free agent July 1 if the Blues had not tendered the qualifying offer. Now, the Blues have the right to match any offer in the event Turgeon got one as a restricted free agent. At present, it doesn't seem likely that Turgeon will receive such an offer. Turgeon led the Blues in playoff scoring with four goals and 13 points and has scored at least 20 goals in 11 consecutive seasons.
