« Démocratie ? Faites-la vous-même ! »

 

Le festival international « Mal au pixel » est de retour du 14 au 21 avril
2007, pour sa deuxième édition.

Présenté à la veille du premier tour de l?élection présidentielle, Mal au Pixel
porte une question singulière : comment les artistes, les chercheurs et les
communautés prospectives dans le domaine des médias peuvent-ils contribuer à
analyser, critiquer ou inventer les systèmes politiques et sociaux de demain ?

Ce thème se veut fédérateur quant aux liens entre artistes, designers
interactifs, chercheurs et acteurs de la citoyenneté. La thématique ouvre sur
des propositions critiques ou poétiques, loin de se poser en simples
illustrations des tendances de la démocratie électronique.  Et puisque l?on
sait depuis Marcel Duchamp que l?art est politique, il est temps de se demander
pourquoi la politique ne deviendrait-elle pas à son tour esthétique ?
 
Mal au Pixel c?est aussi des ateliers, des installations expérimentales à
découvrir, des moments festifs à partager : cinq soirées de performances
hybrides, DJ/VJing, lives expérimentaux ou ludiques, des sensations
électroniques du proche et du lointain !

« Democracy ? Do it yourself ! »

The second edition of the Mal au Pixel festival will be held in April 2007, the
very week before the first round of the French presidential election. Given
this pre-election context, Mal au Pixel tackles the question of how artists,
researchers and networked communities working in the field of media can
contribute to understanding, criticizing, and imagining our political and
social systems? 

This topic aims to gather artists, designers, researchers, and social workers,
intends to drive us towards poetical or critical proposals, rather than simply
illustrate e-democracy trends. Marcel Duchamp taught us that all Art is
politics, time has come then to ask why politics shouldn?t be aesthetical as
well?
 
Mal au Pixel Festival also presents experimental installations, debates and
workshops, but also party times to share: five events of hybrid performances,
DJ/VJ, experimental or narrative lives, plenty of electronic vibes from here
and far away !

Bricolabs, GNU/Linux and open hardware, theoretical meeting on open source with
Rob van Kranenburg, followed by an hands-on workshop with Denis Jaromil Rojo,
on hacking cheap game consoles to recycle and craft novel forms of interactive
handheld computing.
