Re: <nettime> Zizek on Iran


two brief comments i posted on facebook re zizek's article earlier this week:

1- zizek needs to review his history books and stop branding the 1979 
revolution as "1979 khomeini revolution"

2- "there is a genuine liberating potential in Islam" sounds so much 
like foucault's "political spirituality" argument in favour of 
khomeini in 1978... yet another wave of western intellectuals 
romanticizing religiosity in iran... in zizek's own logic, it's as if 
they can't imagine any alternatives for iranians...
