I don't know details about dwindling of Nordic communication manufacturing - any pointers appreciated.
The absence of own nervous system is and will be causing increased subservient position of the involved countries. The disciplined ones will suffer the most. I'll make a prediction that the first European semi fab will be built in Italy ... not any time soon though.
