<nettime> RIP Fred Forest, French video artist

From: contact@aiutahia.agency

After 93 years of loyal service, Fred Forest leaves us this Wednesday, November 4. With a light and peaceful heart, you leave us after having set an example for me all your life. You were the best of dads, the one who knew how to listen and find the right words. You were my example and I am very, very proud to be your son. I will be forever grateful to you for everything you have done for me. You have been a support, someone you want by your side. That's what I'm going to miss the most: spending time with you. I know you're still here, but it will never be the same again. I love you for eternity. Your son who loves you,

Letter Announcing My Death

Thanks to the affectionate complicity of my son Adrien, I am pleased to announce my own passing. Yes, for some people I would have remained until the last moment the whole artist that I have always been. Adored by many, despised by some and ignored by most. My activity in art, which I tried to renew every day I lived, gave full meaning to my life. In this, I know that I have been filled with the very serious game of art, to which I have devoted my entire life, and which has finally taught me that money is by no means necessary to achieve one’s wildest dreams.

Certainly, for some people I am recognized as a permanent pioneer of its forms, but the title that I deserve and claim most is to have been probably one of the only artists in the world who put Ethics into practice in the exercise of their art.

But I am not going to bore you any longer with idle words, when you still have a thousand things to do yourself, to fill your own life...

Lying in this hole dug into the ground at Anserville near the M2 Territory, I will have all my time now to calmly think about what I am doing tomorrow, my friends...
