* Tuesday 6: An introduction to PHP

PHP is one of the easy ways to create dynamic websites. Taking a news script as an example,
we'll introduce you to PHP.

* Tuesday 13: Audio streaming workshop

Streaming professionals from Radio 100, DFM and ASCII will introduce you to the wonders of
audio on the internet. If you have a laptop, take it with you... you can be a broadcaster 
too!

* Tuesday 20: Encryption

The story of Alice and Bob.... (encryption past, present, future)
As long as people have communicated, they have tried to make sure that only the intented 
persons could receive the message. Likewise, others have devoted lots of time and money 
into intercepting messages not ment for them...  This is the realm of cryptography, in 
which Alice and Bob try to get their message from A to B. 

We'll be giving a "look mum, almost no mathematics required" overview of the history of 
encryption, from Julius Caesar's letter-shifting methods to the Nazi's Enigma machine, 
Pretty Good Privacy and new quantum physics developments. 

Of course, we will also look at the various ways of breaking cryptography. Not only the 
technical ones, but also 'social engineering' and others. Every encryption scheme can only 
be as strong as it's weakest link, and that may very well be the humans using it.... 

And, we'll introduce you to such wonderful concepts as SnakeOil (TM), STO (Security 
Through Obscurity, TM), Key Eschrowing and other wonders of corporate and state propaganda!

* Tuesday 27: Images on the web

GIF, TIFF, JPG, PNG... what the hell is the difference? Which one should you use and when? 
Some technical details about the images on the web. We'll also give you an introduction to
the Gimp, just to show you don't really need to buy Photoshop (TM) to make beautifull 
things...

Workshops

(Alle workshops beginnen om 19:30)

* Dinsdag 6: Introductie PHP

PHP is een van de makkelijkste talen om je website dynamisch teh maken. Met een 
nieuwspagina als voorbeeld, laten we je de mogelijikheden van PHP zien.

* Dinsdag 13: Audio streaming workshop

Experts op het gebied van streaming audio van Radio 100, DFM en ASCII laten je zien hoe 
radio via internet werkt. Als je een laptop hebt, neem 'm dan mee... ook jij kan je eigen
station op internet beginnen.

* Dindsag 20: Encryptie

Al sinds mensen met elkaar communiceren, hebben ze geprobeerd om bepaalde informatie voor
anderen verborgen te houden en te zorgen, dat alleen de ontvanger waarvoor 't bedoeld was
het bericht kon lezen. 

In deze workshop vertellen we je de geschiedenis van encryptie, vanaf Julius Caesar's 
"letter-shifting" tot de Nazi Enigma machine, PGP en nieuwe ontwikkelingen in de quantum 
mechanica.

Natuurlijk kijken we ook naar de methoden om de encryptie te decoderen. Niet alleen de 
technische trucjes, maar ook 'social engineering". Elke manier van encryptie is tenslotte
maar zo zwak als de zwakste schakel, en dat kan wel eens de mens achter de machine zijn...

* Dinsdag 27: Plaatjes op het web

GIF, TIFF, JPG, PNG... wat is het verschil? Wat moet je ermee? 
In deze workshop vertellen we wat over de technische details van plaatjes op 't web. 
Ook geven we je een introductie in "the Gimp", al is het alleen maar om te laten zien
dat je niet perse Photoshop (TM) hoeft te kopen om prachtige plaatjes te maken...
