DISCUSSION 2: THE POLITICS OF RESISTANCE
SATURDAY, DECEMBER 13, 2 - 6 P.M.

During the second discussion that Witte de With organizes in the context of
the Territories exhibition, three guests will discuss the representation of
the territorial conflict in the Middle East and the role of architecture for
the Palestinian population in this area.
Speakers:
Amin Amin, Middle East project coordinator at CITAT (Centre for
International Cooperation) Delft University of Technology.
Sylvaine Bulle, urbanist and sociologist at the Institut Français du Proche
Orient, Paris and author of a thesis on the urban history of Palestinian
cities.
Tanya Reinhart (to be confirmed), professor of linguistics and cultural
studies at Tel Aviv University and at Utrecht University. She is the author
of Israel/Palestine: How to End the War of 1948, Seven Stories Press, 2002.
Moderated by Catherine David, director of Witte de With, Rotterdam.

The Territories exhibition, including works by Yael Bartana, Zvi Efrat,
Armin Linke, Multiplicity and Eyal Weizman/Rafi Segal, will be open at Witte
de With until January 4, 2004

For the presentation in Rotterdam, Witte de With has produced a supplement
to the Territories catalogue, titled: Territories. Builders, Warriors and
other Mythologies with texts by Anselm Franke, Sharon Rotbard and Eyal
Weizman. This supplement is available at Witte de With for: EUR 5.-.

Tijdens de tweede discussie die Witte de With organiseert in het kader van
de tentoonstelling Territories, spreken drie gasten over de representatie
van het territoriale conflict in het Midden-Oosten en de rol van de
architectuur voor de Palestijnse bevolking in dit gebied.
Sprekers:
Amin Amin, projectcoördinator Midden-Oosten aan CITAT (Centre for
International Cooperation) Technische Universiteit Delft.
Sylvaine Bulle, stedenbouwkundige en sociologe aan het Institut Français du
Proche Orient, Parijs. Auteur van een doctoraalscriptie over de
stedenbouwkundige ontwikkeling van Palestijnse steden.
Tanya Reinhart (onder voorbehoud), professor in de taalkunde en culturele
studies aan de Tel Aviv University en de Universiteit Utrecht. Auteur van
Israel/Palestine: How to End the War of 1948, Seven Stories Press, 2002

De tentoonstelling Territories met onder andere werken van Yael Bartana, Zvi
