CALL FOR WORKSHOP ENTRIES

Cell Culture
The function of art, technology and scientific research in cultural practice
Arteleku, San Sebastian, Spain May 2-June 15, 2001

The aim of this six week long workshop is to encourage artists who use, or are interested in using scientific research agendas. The workshop will be a platform for the search of definition, explanation, and meaning of artworks dealing with scientific research. The aim is also to discuss the way science and technology increasingly shapes culture.

The first part of the workshop consists of an artist in residency program. The participants will stay one week in residency, working as a team member in a research or application environment. From here on the participants develop and work on their own projects, either in group or individually.

The final date for receipt of applications at Arteleku is 9 April 2001. The number of participants is limited to 12.

Arteleku will provide the basic materials and equipment required for the activities of the workshop and will also offer accommodation and board to participants.
