Dear sindicate,
Goethe Institut in Belgrade is looking for participants from Slovenija, Croatia,
Bosnia, Bulgaria, Albania and Romania to take part in seminar that is explained
below:

We invite you to take part in the seminar:

MULTICULTURALITY IN MEDIA
Goethe Institute, Belgrade and Cultural Center Rex, Belgrade
Place: Belgrade, REX, 16 Jevrejska Street
Time: 20 - 23/05, 2001
20 05 - arrival
21 ? 22/05 - seminar
23/05 - departure

As is the case in Germany, in the former Yugoslavia, and other countries in the
region there are a great number of radio and TV stations that have their own
presentations on the Internet, which, in most cases, provide further information
about the shows they broadcast.

On which journalistic concepts is the use of this medium based? What is the
content of web pages? Who are the visitors? What kind of attitude is taken
towards other languages in the region? How far does information spread? Do these
stations contribute to globalization by playing an important role even beyond
the borders of the countries where they are based?

The number of German speaking users of the Internet is far bigger then the
number of those using the languages spoken in the Balkan region. On the other
hand, German presence on the Internet has its limits caused by the use of the
English language, which is ?ingua franca?of the Internet.

This seminar is intended for radio and/or TV stations that use web presentations
(that include news and live stream on the Internet...) as an essential element
of communication with their audience.

Lecturers are mostly from Germany.

We would like to invite one participant from each country in the region.
Participants should somehow be involved with independent radio and/or TV
stations that have launched their web sites, with knowledge of Internet.

The seminar consists of lectures, discussions and a workshop (you will be given
a detailed timetable). Travel(by bus or train), accommodation and food costs
will be covered.

Please, send a short biography of a participant. If it's possible send your
reply as soon as possible.Thanks!

Best regards,
Natasha
