POSITION:		PROGRAMMER WORKSTUDY
DEPARTMENT: 	MEDIA AND VISUAL ARTS

The Banff Centre's New Media Research lab consists of an SGI Onyx with a
reality engine, an O2 and several Indies, virtual reality interfaces
including head-mounted displays and sensing equipment and Next computers,
Macs and PCs, and is located in the heart of beautiful Banff National Park.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with artists and cultural industry producers through new media
co-productions, Walter Phillips Gallery projects, residency projects and
commercial joint ventures, to support the development of new media
projects.
Work in an Alpha development and Beta test environment in cooperation with
major hardware/software companies.

QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to demonstrate a high level of competence with new media
development including WWW site applications (VRML, WWW programming, Java
and Perl) and multimedia (mTropolis and Director).  Comfort in the SGI,
Apple and Intel environment. Up-to-date on current creative, social and
economic development in the Internet and WWW domains including the creative
and educational applications on the WWW and Internet. Excellent
organizational and communication skills. Ability to work with and supervise
students and/or support staff.
