Subject: SERBIA: CAMPAIGN AGAINST HOMOPHOBIA CONTINUES!

Dear friends,

CAMPAIGN AGAINST HOMOPHOBIA has made a decision to continue working, in
spite of the current conditions, that are extremely inhospitable to the
projects trying to promote the development of civic society and respect
of fundamental human rights, in our case - primarily human rights of
lesbians and gay men. For making such a decision the following was
essential:

(1) necessity to maintain the continuance of the CAMPAIGN that was the
only project that succeeded to bring into focus lesbigay existence in
Serbia in a serious, studious and all-inclusive way, and offer concrete,
pragmatically ways of prevailing of currently very repressed position of
homosexual minority. If the CAMPAIGN was stopped for an unknown period
of time, it's continuance would be unsecured in a potentially better
condition, so we think that we must continue with lesbigay activism in
Serbia, in order to create conditions for further maintain of such
activities, essential for future human rights development;

(2) importance to create a balance to the current extreme national
homogenization and growth of discrimination of everyone who thinks/acts
not according to patriarchal stereotypes and macho consciousness, that
would try to lower the current all-present intolerance. We do not
believe that any radical or essential change towards the change of
reception of homosexual population is possible, but we think that every
- even a most minor attempt of activity on development of human rights
is needed more then ever.

(3) very frustrating position of people engaged in CAMPAIGN, who are
currently "clay-pigeons", expecting NATO bombs, and their need to
change
their own position through activism, directed to the welfare of
population the CAMPAIGN addresses as well

Having in mind everything stated, we will continue the work on several
projects, and a meeting, regarding new ideas and possibilities of
activism under war conditions will take place this week. You will be
constantly updated with information about plans for further
activities.
So far, we are continuing with:
(1) finalizing Serbian edition of The Anthology and seeking fundraising
for English edition, as an attempt to present to our and world public
domestic lesbigay creativity in a field of science, fine arts and
philosophy

(2) seeking fundraising for psychological workshop of self-help, that
would try to help self acceptance i prevailing of fear of accepting
personal identity

(3) seeking fundraising for the continuance of media monitoring, in
order to provide information about the way the Serbian media precepts
homosexuality under war conditions
(4) web-site designing, that would contain all relevant information
about lesbigay existence and current position of homosexual community in
Serbia

As the current projects are translated into English, I will send them
to you.

If you have any ideas, suggestions or critics, I am asking you to send
it to me as soon as possible, and to try to help CAMPAIGN AGAINST
HOMOPHOBIA continue, according to you possibilities and our basic needs
for further work and development.

Thank you very much for your time and consideration.

Stay safe!

For CAMPAIGN,
executive co-ordinator deputy
Dusan Maljkovic
