Syndicate: EU Cultural Contact Points

At EMAF last week, there was a presentation of the *Cultural Contact
Points* by Sabine Bornemann, who runs the german CCP in bonn. in short, the
CCP's have already been set up or are currently being set up in all EU
member states in order to facilitate the communication between cultural
practitioners and DG X (culture). this follows a directive from 1998.

the different CCP's apparently operate very differently, depending on how
they are being dealt with politically: in germany, the CCP is located at a
cultural umbrella organisation and is thus connected more closely to 'the
field', whereas in other countries they are placed in the ministries,
sometimes as extra _tasks_ for somebody working within the ministries. this
will definitely be worth checking out, not least because they are also a
good source for updates on non-DG X programmes that can be used for
cultural projects. mrs bornemann said that she is happy to look at (german)
applications prior to submission, offer advice and maybe also network
compatible initiatives. other CCPs may not be so helpful, but who knows.
