18 Sept.-02 October, Opening 18 Sept. 18.00 p.m.

The exhibition ALWAYS ALREADY APOCALYPSE is an international

project resulted from the collaboration between seven artists from five =
different countries that were invited by the curator Suzana Milevska =
(Macedonia, Skopje) and the two institutions from Macedonia and Turkey, =
to elaborate projects on the issues of catastrophe, apocalypse, war and =
other moral and material disasters. The starting point was the Skopje =
catastrophic earthquake from 1963 and the war that was so close, and the =
original site of the exhibition was the dynamic laboratory of the =
Institute for Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Seismology in =
Skopje that now sounds as an anticipatory event since the scientists of =
this institutions are trained and equipped to test the resistance of the =
buildings during earthquakes. Namely, the first part of the project took =
place only twenty days before the Istanbul disaster. After the =
earthquake in Istanbul from 17th August artists continued to work on =
their projects sometimes with direct references to the somehow =
anticipated tragedy. =20

The project is going to be open in parallel to the official opening of =
the 6th International Istanbul Biennial with a financial support of the =
Museum of the City of Skopje, the Ministry of Culture of R. Macedonia, =
the Foundation PRO HELVETIA and the Yuksel Sabanci Art center.
