<nettime> net-art.org hold for ransom |
from: atty <atty@no-such.com> (andrew forbes) last week domain name www.net-art.org was kidnapped (due to admin blunders registration had expired for about 3 weeks), I am being asked $2500 for its return by one calling himself Allen Ginsberg (and also charles bukowsky) and sometimes anwering allen@elazy.com, variously purporting to live in Burbank CA, Russia and Armenia this personage makes a habit of this kind of thing, though usually he picks on american catholic schools. Obvioulsy I can't/won't pay this ransom and there seems no chance of legal redress since one has to have a registered trademark to have a case under ICANN rules (so only businessmen have any hope of challenging) <snip> [Andrew Forbes considers another domain name, when you go to net-art.org now you will find only porn there.
