Re: <nettime> Linux wins Prix Ars due to MICROSOFT INTERVENTION |
The prizes are homage of an alive jury to alived individuals, that could propose a possible symbol of a politic positioning of the institution that gives the prize. More institutional and representative is this institution more its choice make politic image for the rest of the contemporary world. A matter of choice which have to be a kind of wish of the prefiguration for the futures, and for the future generations a right to judge this prejudice of their so near uncontemporaries, and their right to often gently laugh. if an art institution would give a prize to einstein in 1913, for the alive we are, the benefice of this delivery would 'honor' till this institution and therefore it could have to be introduced in art history. einstein wasn't dupe with a kind of 'ho i ? i just carry the luggage of god you know, er, thank for him'. But if it would be question to give a prize.. after 1945 for instance.. yet i am quite sure the explosion of the atomic bomb is one of major emotions of this century, and who dare to say it is not shown as an aesthetical one ? whats more it's since this time usans adore sunglasses and can't leave it. and now imagine linux was soon adopted for on board computer and surgical bombing in my pants ? so classy ! so no complaint for me, i wear solid police mercure glasses and no panz too # distributed via <nettime>: no commercial use without permission # <nettime> is a moderated mailing list for net criticism, # collaborative text filtering and cultural politics of the nets # more info: majordomo@bbs.thing.net and "info nettime-l" in the msg body # archive: http://www.nettime.org contact: nettime@bbs.thing.net
