Imaginem que a escultora espanhola Susana Solano inaugurava em Marbella uma
estátua ao imponente alcalde e ex-presidente do Atlético de Madrid, Jesús
Gil. Pois foi algo de parecido o que sucedeu na pacata Maia no passado dia 2
de Junho. Pedro Cabrita Reis, entrando destemido nos pomares até agora
reservados aos professores de Belas Artes, assina uma estátua inacreditável,
cujo fim é homenagear um dos mais notórios caciques do poder político
lusitano, falecido há um ano. Uma lição para Richard Serra e puritanos da
mesma laia! Como eu.

Just imagine that Michelangelo Pistolleto presents a 'statue' honoring the
mayor of the city of Tara (Italy), or that Susana Solano also produces a
'statue' honoring the mayor of the city of Marbella (Spain). Imagine that we
are really talking about a very conventional, even Pompier, sculpture. Well
that's what have just happened a few days ago in Maia, a satellite town of
Oporto (Portugal), where Pedro Cabrita Reis has actually presented an
incredible monument to one of the most notorious Portuguese conservative
mayors (that passed away last a year). A real lesson that Richard Serra and
other puritains like me should learn!
