[Nettime-nl] Invitation exhibition PostNatural Organisms of the European Union


Invitation 
The Center for PostNatural History and Waag Society present the extraordinary exhibition PostNatural Organisms of the European Union from 24 August till 17 September. 

This exhibition features 11 preserved specimens of life forms that were intentionally altered by humans using the processes of domestication, selective breeding and genetic engineering. They were altered from their wild ancestors to address a range of human desires and fears, from aesthetic beauty to human mortality, and scientific curiosity to commercial profit. A 21st Century Wunderkammer in the tradition of anatomist Frederik Ruysch back in the historical Theatrum Anatomicum of the Waag building.. 

The vernissage of the exhibition will take place August 24th at 17.00 hrs featuring: 

- Rich Pell (director Center for Postnatural History), 
- Koert van Mensvoort (director Next Nature Network), 
- Tijs Goldschmidt (biologist and essayist). 

The evening is moderated by Lucas Evers (Waag Society).

The exhibition is open from 24 August till 17 September 2012 on: 

Thursday and Friday 
14.00 - 20.00 hrs 

Saturday and Sunday 
12.00 â 18.00 hrs 

On Monday 17 September there is a special opening in connection with the PICNIC festival ( www.picnicnetwork.org ). 

PostNatural Organisms of the European Union is part of the Studiolab â Utopian Practices project, initiated by Waag Society, Leiden University and BioSolar Cells generously supported by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, "Innovatie cultuuruitingen".
