THE DIGITIZED GLANCE - BEYOND REPRESENTATION

Since the dawn of the digital age the photo and videographic image
have undergone a substantial change in production and processing,
resulting in a profound shift in the perception of visual representation.

How do artists perceive and deliver the world using this not-so-new
new medium? What is, if one exists, the persistent visual language,
that it defines? Are artists only users of the new medium or do they
play a vital part in the development of technologies? Do images lie?
Have they always? Do they do nowadays only? Is it all the same?

DARTFEST seeks to find out by inviting artists, designers, tinkerers
and technologists to submit works that provides subtle and submerging,
prototypical or provocative insight to these questions. DARTFEST
is open to all forms and formats, from print to performance, icon to
installation, DARTFEST looks forward to receiving your submission!

An international and interdisciplinary jury will consider submissions
and nominate a selection of works to be shown in MNAC, B.rest. Each
entry exhibited will be awarded !

Submission deadline is October 31, 2007

ACCEPTED MEDIA FOR PREVIEW

DART FEST invites submissions in form of prints, photos, DVD, CD, websites,
VHS as well as MiniDV. Please note: Evaluation of the works requires
proper documentation; please enclose a succinct written or spoken
explantion of the submitted work.

MAILING AND INSURANCE

Please either: email works to: submissions@dartfest.ro, submit
electronically at: ftp://submissions.artfest.ro or postal mail to: DARTFEST
c/o APDETIC, Sos. Oltenitei 105 A, Bucharest, sector 4, Romania.

All postage costs will be borne by the entrant. Submissions will be
returned only if a self-addressed, stamped envelope is enclosed by the
entrant. FTP account data can be obtained upon request!

There is no insurance cover for the materials received. Should a work
be damaged through the fault of the DARTFEST, only the material
value will be reimbursed.
