A number of the new media practitioners and their proponents have
embellished their activities with the label "art." Web, media, virtual and digital art are establishing themselves alongside or within the art world, both inthe market and in major institutions. The strategies of web art - like those of the time-based arts that came before it - waver between isolation, service in the information industry and institutionalisation.
