ZOOMTOWN 7 July - 5 August 2001
United Metropoles of Europe - a city concept by Peter Haimerl

With Jutta Gorlich (script), mw?, Gero Wortmann, buro wilhelm, Ulrike
Weyland and Martin Krejci

Opening: Friday 6 July, 7.00 p.m.
By Prof. Dr. Dr. Lydia Hartl, cultural adviser City of Munich

Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday 1.00 - 7.00 p.m.

Zoomtown is more than just another urban utopia: it is a possible urban
development of the near future. The architect Peter Haimerl (Munich) will
present the concept of Zoomtown in lothringer13 using installations and animated
films. In addition the "urban brainpool" will provide further information on the
latest approaches to urban design and planning issues.

A number of 3-D-animations illustrate life in Zoomtown as experienced by a
fictitious inhabitant. The exhibition introduces different aspects of this urban
vision, such as Zoomliner, a new traffic system and Reservoir, the concentration
of all basic urban functions. Paraspace will be presented as a new urban spatial
capacity gained by using parametric planning processes. Zoomtown can be
initiated at any time just by altering the existing infrastructure: On a larger
scale by gradually implementing efficient means of transport, on the city scale
by reclaiming urban landscape and on the personal level through the usage of
individual building structures.
